An Evening in the Garden

An Evening of Food, Wine, Art and Music at the Wrigley Memorial & Botanic Garden The Rotary Club of Avalon, in conjunction with the Catalina Art Association, is hosting an Evening in the Garden event, an evening of food, wine, art and music plus silent and live auctions at the Wrigley Memorial & Botanic Garden. The event will be held from 6:00-9:00pm on Saturday evening, September 18th, 2010 in conjunction with the 52nd Annual Catalina Festival of Art.

9th Annual Two Harbors Summer Wine Festival, June 5th, 2010

Avalon Rotary Club Supports Haiti Relief Efforts

The Rotary Club of Avalon came to the aid of the Haiti earthquake tragedy by purchasing a Shelter Box for earthquake survivors in Haiti, according to Bryan Ballard, Rotary Club of Avalon President. In addition to the Club buying a Box, individual Rotarians from Avalon contributed their own funds to buy other Shelter Boxes for the troubled island nation.

Avalon Rotary Club Helps Feed the Hungry

The Avalon Rotary Club annually distributes funds to benefit international and local charities. Recent funds have been used to help feed the hungry. This year the local club's international funding went to fund a Rotary partnership project in Ensenada, Mexico. The Avalon Rotary club along with the two San Diego Rotary Clubs and one in Montebello, CA partnered with the Club Rotary Centenairo of Ensenada. In early January, two Avalon Rotary Club members, Lourdes Thoricht and Rita Whitaker traveled to Ensenada to distribute 925 food baskets and blankets throughout the poverty stricken areas of Ensenada. The needy families live in cardboard houses, with no electricity and very limited bathroom facilities. The food baskets and blankets are given out each January to help celebrate the arrival of the Three Kings. The recipients were overjoyed with everything they received, particularly the warm blankets.
