4th Annual Rotary Auction
July 18, 2005

The Avalon Rotary Club is gearing up for its 4th annual Auction on Friday evening, September 9, at The Landing. As in previous years the auction will be full of great food, diverse entertainment and fabulous auction items, all to raise funds for Catalina Island charities and Rotary projects. In the past several years, Avalon Rotary has provided scholarships for local students, worked with other Rotary Clubs to food baskets and blankets to the needy in Ensenada, Mexico and contributed tens of thousands of dollars to charities, including the Catalina Island Medical Center's recent renovation project.

Volunteers are collecting exciting auction items and back by popular demand is the DC-3 plane ride flown by expert pilot Clay Lacey. Each seat is being sold as an auction item and one will be reserved for a special raffle. For the lucky passengers last year, this was a once in a lifetime experience to ride aboard a historic plane, the type once commonly flown into the Airport-in-the-Sky by United Airlines.

The Club is still soliciting quality items for the auction. If you have something you'd like to donate in support of Catalina Island charities, please call Sharon Johnston at 310-510-2033.
